MEET THE PERFUMIST

Signature Scents by Hand was founded by Kabrea Thomas in April 2017, born from her Brooklyn roots and her love for creating scent experiences that feel personal. Every fragrance is handcrafted with natural, vegan-friendly ingredients.

The journey started in 2016, when Kabrea began experimenting with oils at home. After months of trial and error and endless testing, she finally created a blend she felt connected to. One day, she wore it while running errands, and she received many compliments that day. That very formula became Yours, Fragrance, the scent that started the beginning of SSH.

With a background in fashion, Kabrea always believed that fragrance is the invisible accessory. As a self-taught perfumist, she turned to Google as her greatest teacher (before AI was a thing), and she learned how to blend top, middle, and base notes with intention. Through her research, she also discovered how many traditional perfumes contain harsh ingredients — from synthetic musks to formaldehyde, which is often linked to skin irritation and long-term health concerns. That knowledge pushed her to craft cleaner, safer, more familiar formulations by hand.

Once Yours, Fragrance was finalized, Kabrea gained the confidence to showcase it at Baltimore Fashion Week, where it quickly became a crowd favorite. Customers loved the scent and began asking for oils, colognes, creams, and more. As the brand evolved, so did the collection. Kabrea was able to expand SSH in a different way to allow people to express themselves through fragrance.

Through this journey, Kabrea learned something beautiful: everyone experiences scents differently, and everyone has their own way of wearing scents. Because fragrance is intimate, sacred, and deeply personal to each individual, our mission is simple: to create scents that make you smell good and feel good.
